Peer review #2
This week I had to review two blogs centred around digital media. In this post, I will discuss what I have learned during this reading task week.
This is my second time doing something like this; however, I was told to learn a new way of giving feedback, and this method itself is pretty much summed in five words that form a single word. The word is called SPARK, and the words that created it are:
- Specific- comments that are to a particular word, phrase and sentence
- Prescriptive- it offers a result or technique to improve the task, including possible revisions or links that can be helpful to the resources and examples that are available.
- Actionable- when the feedback is given to the person that you are reviewing will know what points to take for improvement.
- Referenced- the feedback promptly references the task standards, requirements or the target skills.
- Kind- it's important to remember to have the comments that you are going to post on the blogs that they should be in a supportive way.
It’s important to remember that having a good review empowers the writer with the proper meaningful progress while generating the reviewer's ability to analyse a text’s potency. Another good way to give someone a way to provide good feedback independently is to use group and class discussions to share their feedback with others to learn how to provide the needed input.
For my thoughts on this, as I said before in my last peer review id say the most challenging part of giving feedback would have to be not upsetting the person that you are reviewing. You have to be mindful and caring and give them insights on how to improve their academic writing skills and make sure that they have all their punctuations in like full stops and commas, all of that.
I’m getting more I used to it now. Providing feedback, i actually don’t mind doing it. I think its a good lesson in doing it getting used to the fact of letting people know how to improve their writing skills or having people tell you how to improve your writing skills.
