My thoughts

It was probably my first time giving people feedback, something I’m not used to at all like I’m a student. It's more of a lecturer or employees job to provide feedback on your written essays. I have to be honest. It is tough to give feedback to others, especially when it comes to other people around you. It could be challenging to provide negative feedback to people you know, and I find that it is easier to give good feedback if it's good, short and making easier to understand, and that’s my take on that.

Helpful Information

I have been reading some articles that could help and improve when giving feedback. I just had a quick reading of it. Essentially, what it tells you to do is be a mirror. It means “to reflect what is there without judgement”. For the qualities of feedback, it is essential to remember the vital growth mindset for feedback.

  • The first main thing when you are giving feedback is to be specific about what you are describing when providing input to the particular individual you are giving it to.
  • The second main thing to consider is to focus on who or what the actual person is doing. What they have chosen and why they have determined that particular subject to give feedback.
  • The third main thing is to understand and focus on the process of what the reader has put in. It is important to remember when focusing on the process of what the reader has produced. It shows how we value the efforts on the work that is valued and important.
  • The fourth main thing is understanding what the reader is using, like souring from a book or any primary source.
  • The final part is to remember to take yourself out of the feedback itself; it is important not to say “I like what you have done with this” or “I like” instead, you should be starting it off by communicating with the reader's name like “when you” it is vital to keep the focus on the reader essentially its what you are trying to stand by the quote “to reflect what is there without judgement”.
