For this, I will be watching some videos detailing the history of digital media and what’s so different from before and today. In this review, I will be sharing my thoughts and how I feel about it.
Technology Evolution
The first video that I have watched is a video that goes through a million years detailing the evolution of technology itself. The video starts by going back millions of years ago, introducing the first tools that humans have first used, which are from wood, stone, animal body parts like antlers and bones. Aside from that, it goes through a Timelapse of everything that humans have discovered or have invented things we now use today. The list of things they have made is pretty long but incredible, and it's incredible to think about all the things they have discovered. The list is
- Fire 1-2 million years ago by humans
- Wheel 3500BC by the Elamite’s
- Static Electricity 600BC discovered by Thales of Miletus
- Hot Air Balloon 500BC-900C Nazca people of Peru are believed to have founded Balloon Flight
- Lighthouse 250 BC invented by Ancient Egyptians
- Magnetic Compass 200 BC invented by the Chinese
- Windmills 600 created by the Middle East
- Modern Toilet 1206 was invented by an Arabic engineer al-Jazari
- Printer 1450 invented by Johannes Gutenberg
- The microscope 1590 designed by Zacharias Janssen
- Thermometer 1600
- Telescope 1609 invented by Galileo Galilei
- Pendulum Clock 1650 invented by Christiaan Huygens
- Speech Synthesizer 1769
- Voltaic pile 1800 the first battery
- The first photograph 1827 by Joseph Niepce
And many more.
My thoughts on Video-One.
I would go on with the list, but it is long. I do like the video, and it's well done. It’s pretty much summed in 3 minutes which I like, and it gives an excellent detailed description of all the things that the humans have discovered or have invented. I should also say it's great for anyone that is making history or studying history and want to know more about all the discoveries and inventions that humans have created. It's all there in the video.
What will the future jobs be like?
The second video that I have watched is a video on what the future jobs will be like, especially the Covid 19 that is going on around us. Covid 19 has been one of the biggest problems that have affected everyone around the globe, many people have lost their jobs, and those who were lucky enough to have their job still had to work from home. With the state of covid 19, this trend of working from home and people losing their jobs may continue. Some workers may need reskilling while others have to update their skills to keep up with the ongoing trend that will lead into 2025. Companies are expected to train 70% of the workforce to update their skills by 2025 to keep up with the times. These include:
- DevOps Engineers
- AI Specialists
- Digital Marketing Managers
- Talent Acquisition Specialist
- Customer Success Specialists
The amount of time that will take for these workers to learn these new skills are roughly two weeks and five months for the future workers to pick up the new required skills to move into the new roles. As for the government, they would have to step in and update and fund the education and training systems.
My thoughts on Video Two
It is a scary feeling what we are all witnessing with covid 19. There have been many infections going on, and there could be another lockdown which I hope not. I like being out in the open connecting with people, friends and colleagues. As for the video, I like it. I like how there is a piece of good information in there, plans for the future, training the workforce to re-educate their new skills and mainly just keeping up with the times.
Digital transformation predictions for 2030
The third video that I have watched it centres around main predictions on what kind of technology we will be getting, like are robots going to take over our jobs? Which I hope not that would be not good. It’s worrying that a machine could replace me. I hope it does not come to that. The video goes on to explain that there could be new technology coming our way like:
New Connectivity- 5G based communications
New Computing- silicon computing
New Platform- all converged into a digital platform
New Ecosystems- provides comprehensive customer commercial explanations
My thoughts on Video three
As I was saying before, it sounds exciting with all the new technology coming our way with things like faster connectivity and new computing, especially that one with silicon computer everything would fast and smooth. I like the video nice and short makes it easier to understand. Hopefully, things don’t end up with robots replacing humans jobs.
