Digital media



For me, I think digital media means that it is easier to connect with friends, family and business platforms. What I mean by that is seeing that digital media comes with social media. You can create a page for yourself showing your work as a photographer or artist, leading your work to get some attention. Other people may develop their social media pages to connect with their friends and text them online and attend social gatherings. It is also an excellent way to meet new people online who share the same interests, beliefs and values the same as you.

Before digital media, people would have to rely on traditional media, consisting of television, radio and newspapers. That was mainly what you could do with traditional media. It was a one-way system. But now, ever since technology has advanced over the years, you can access the internet on any device like a phone which you can gain access to anything on the web while on the go. Computers have gotten better over time and are much faster and process more and tablets are great for taking down notes in college or a workplace and its handier to have on the go as it frees up more space instead of carrying a load of textbooks. People can post anything online, whether it be expressing their thoughts or posting photos online. 

It is important now to know and familiarise yourself with the technology, seeing as that’s where most of the jobs are at now like. For instance, it’s essential to understand how to use a computer, how to access the web know how to turn it on and off. Most now use technology to apply for a job online by setting up an email and sending it off to companies that would set up websites to know what you would be getting into. Especially going to college and building up your ICT skills can be very competitive and challenging at times, but having the right skills and qualifications is needed to be employed when you graduate. There are multiple ways to learn now, like taking online classes and listening to audio. Doing assignments can be now easily done online which can be very helpful as your lecturer can leave feedback on your written assignments to see how well you have done. It is also important when looking up information you would have to make sure that information is right and wrong or not to plagiarise someone’s work.

This week I had to read some readings detailing how to be good at reading and writing essays. They are listed below, which are Writing strong paragraphs. Paragraph structure This reading mainly focuses on what is a paragraph and how you go on writing one, and what not to put in a paragraph. This can quickly be done by splitting it up into three paragraphs such as the beginning, the middle and the end. A paragraph would usually be around 250 words that would mainly consist of approximately five or six sentences. Rewrite #3

Changes For this week, I have to rewrite my blog for the third time. Which blog? The Media ethics blog. It is currently one of the best blogs that I’ve written. Also, it has the most comments on it, which is around six comments with good positive reviews with one criticism saying that I should expand on my thoughts on the videos in the blog that I had to review on.  For the changes, if I’m going, to be honest, I haven’t changed anything much. I mean, in rewrite #2, I’ve made the necessary changes overall which there isn’t much that I can change. If it were another one of my blogs that I could make changes to, it would’ve been good. However, I can only think of two changes that I can change, and they are: Fonts:  I never really have used any of the fonts here, so I thought, why not and mess around with fonts to see if I can find what I like and will probably use the one that I will like.  Subheadings: I have added subheadings already, but the only difference that I’ve made...

Media representation

For this week, I will be watching some videos on media representation. There are some videos that I will be watching, and after I watch these videos, I will give my thoughts on what they are all about.  Video 1 Why Representation Matters This first video generally talks about representation and why it matters so much, and a needed change. In the video, you have people of different backgrounds, different colours and people of different genders talking about why there needs to be a change in the digital media world of representation, like other stories to be told as a way for people of those different backgrounds, different colours and different genders to watch the content that is happening so that they can resonate with. A way to tackle this issue is to hire people from different cultures to be a creator and let them tell their own story or a story that they know of people that is around them.
